Blocking the sale of iiNet to TPG is important, because the telecommunications sector needs more competing voices and not less.

In the world of data retention, internet filtering, copyright laws, and other key discussion points revolving the telecommunications industry, iiNet is providing a unique voice that will be drowned out by this sale. 

What is 'right' for shareholders, isn't always what is right for an industry, for the consumers, or for the community. Competition and debate needs to happen in any sector to help spur innovation and make sure ideas are molded and developed to their best possible version. By approving the sale of iiNet to TPG, you will be drowning out a very vocal advocate for this debate, and limiting competition further by reducing the active participants involved.

What's frightening, is before this deal was even made public, the ACCC had reportedly [http://www.zdnet.com/article/tpg-to-acquire-iinet-for-au1-4-billion/] told TPG "that it would not intervene, oppose, or seek to prevent the takeover.".

Under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010, the ACCC reviews mergers and acquisitions which have the potential to raise concerns. This merger is a text book case for what should 'raise concerns'. I strongly implore you, the ACCC to review this sale with an open mind and reflect on the public review and submissions you will obtain. And not make judgments before this process has been concluded.
