ABC drama that stars Kiefer Sutherland as President of the United States was recently renewed for a third season. Consider this the Designated Survivor season two news that nobody wanted to hear: the amazing and talented Virginia Madsen is leaving the show.

She played the excellently-named Congresswoman Kimble Hookstraten, who, as Speaker of the House, began the series looking like one of the main rivals for Sutherland’s President Tom Kirkland. By the end of the season, though, she had struck a deal with Kirkland to become his new Secretary of Education. This seemed to set up a big role for season two, but she told fans online not to expect more of Kimble.

In a post on Twitter, Virginia Madsen was the first to confirm her exit. There is no apparent reason given and the only one that can be offered is that after one year on the air, it’s fairly common these days for shows to undergo some sort of massive creative overhaul where they throw in different cast members and combinations.

ABC please consider to hire her back. The show without her powerful role won't be the same and it will loose a lot of viewers. We really hope you change your mind and bring her back to the show. Thank you!
