We've just passed 200 signatures. I wanted to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who signed up, shared and chipped so far in to help put an end to this unpleasant situation. I want to make it clear that this petition will still be actively shared by myself and many other passionate developers within the Unity game development community. We're in this together, and we remain committed to making a difference.
In recent days, Unity attempted to do some damage control by releasing a statement on Twitter. Unfortunately, this statement only seemed to fan the flames of discontent. It's crucial to note that the concerns being raised by the game dev community extend beyond just the introduction of runtime fees, Unity has clearly failed to acknowledge this. This include issues like surreptitious updates to the terms of service and a general lack of transparency from Unity. These actions have eroded the trust that is so vital between developers and the platform they rely on.
As it stands right now, Unity has chosen to remain silent in the face of the growing uproar. However, the game development community, along with some understanding and brave Unity employees, are actively shedding light on the situation. We believe that transparency and open dialogue are fundamental to resolving these issues and ensuring that Unity remains a supportive and innovative platform for all developers.
Our petition remains a powerful tool for raising awareness and pushing for change. If you haven't already, please consider sharing it with your peers and networks. Every signature counts, and together, we can amplify our message and make a lasting impact.
Thank you once again for your unwavering support. Let's keep pushing forward and working towards a positive resolution.
