Many thanks for all your support over the last year. As a result, we now have a new Council who are keen to remove some or all the car parking from the Embankment and create some sort of a town square. Sorry to be vague, but they haven't confirmed their objectives yet.
Early next year the Council's Design Panel team (full participation is TBC) will prepare the design brief for an architects' competition with some input from the Local Stakeholders Reference Group to which we contribute.
Above is a reminder of our vision* of what can be achieved if the Council adopts a full site** solution with The Embankment road and all surface parking removed and/or relocated - it can and should be a vibrant community Space for People, Not Cars.
Next year we will do all we can to ensure the Council delivers a solution for Twickenham Riverside that closely resembles our vision. We look forward to your continued support and contributions to help achieving our common goal. Your ongoing petition comments, emails and tweets are very welcome.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the
Twickenham Riverside Park Team

*Please note: the lido is optional.
**We believe that the ‘full site’ must include the whole of the Diamond Jubilee Gardens area and all the surrounding roads. But the Council haven't confirmed the site boundaries yet.
