It's Our Anniversary - We Are One
Sep 14, 2018 —
Congratulations to us and all our wonderful supporters - we are one year old this week. Yay!
Apologies for the long delay since our last update, but things have been very quiet over the summer holiday period.
But, not any longer. At the Council meeting this week Councillor Gareth Roberts (the new leader) outlined his ambitions for #TwickenhamRiverside:
✔️Enhance public space
✔️Take cars off the riverside
✔️Remove the Embankment (service) road, ideally
✔️Open public park for residents
✔️A Space for People, Not Cars
In the meeting and the following press release Gareth Roberts advised of the next steps to be taken in the #TwickenhamRiverside planning process. In short, the Council will:
o compile a full-site brief
o hold a design competition for architects
o form a design panel of councillors and residents
o be informed by a RIBA design process
o consult residents on the top 5 designs (in Spring hopefully)
We think this all makes good sense. The success of it very much depends on the quality of the brief. We hope that Gareth and his team will bring in independent professional advice to help with writing the brief (it's a specialist subject don't you know).
We intend to report back next week with more information on this critical aspect of the process.
Best wishes from the TRP Team
