En las perreras / gateras municipales de España, cada año y debido a la legislación vigente, se sacrifican sin motivo alguno miles de animales domésticos. La normativa legal establece que los perros vagabundos acogidos en perreras municipales son sacrificados una vez transcurridos 21 días. El estado subvenciona y fomenta esta forma de proceder. En lugar de sacrificarlos, estos animales deberían ser castrados, siempre y cuando su estado de salud lo permite, y acto seguido dados en adopción, estableciendo una cuota de adopción más elevada que hasta la fecha. Se trata de concienciar a la gente acerca de la responsabilidad que significa la tenencia de un animal y a enseñarles a no tratarlos como si fueran una mercancía, de la que se pueden deshacer cuando les plazca. Así se evitaría la reproducción descontrolada de los animales y se reduciría el número de mascotas recluídas en perreras / gateras municipales.

Deberían existir censos para registrar perros de raza y los criadores tendrían que tener la obligación de documentar la venta de los cachorros de forma fehaciente. La venta de cachorros sin papeles sólo debería estar permitida una vez realizada la castración. Es inaudito que en un país europeo la legislación vigente aún permite el sacrificio cruel, anticuado y gratuito. Esta forma de proceder no es compatible con el concepto del “animal welfare” del siglo 21. Todos los seres vivos tienen derecho a vivir. Estamos totalmente de acuerdo con lo que dijo el M.Ghandi: “La grandeza de una nación se mide en el trato que proporciona a los animales”.

In municipal pounds / catteries of Spain and because of the current legislation, thousands of pets are killed every year for no reason. The legal regulations stipulate that stray dogs received in municipal pounds are sacrificed after 21 days. The state subsidizes and encourages this procedure. Instead of being euthanized, these animals should be neutered as long as their health permits and immediately given up for adoption, establishing a higher adoption fee than the fee stipulated to date. This would educate people about the responsibility the possession of an animal means and teach them not to treat them as a commodity that can be relinquished as and when they please.This way the uncontrolled reproduction of animals could be avoided and the number of pets confined in municipal pounds and catteries would be reduced. A census record should be in place for purebred dogs and breeders should be required to document the sale of puppies in a reliable way. The sale of puppies without papers should only be allowed once neutering has taken place. It is outrageous that in a European country the legislation still allows cruel, outdated and free sacrifice. This approach does not support the concept of "animal welfare" in the 21st century. All living beings have the right to live. We totally agree with the M.Ghandi: "The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated."

Therefore, please sign the petition for this to change in Spain! Together we can achieve it! For a social Europe committed to the welfare of the animals!

Tausende von Haustieren, Katzen und Hunden, werden jährlich in ganz Spanien aufgrund der bestehenden Gesetzeslage, in spanischen  Tierheimen grundlos eingeschläfert. Das Gesetz besagt zur Zeit, das streunende Hunde nach 21 Tagen im Tierheim, offiziell eingeschläfert werden müßen. Dieses wird vom Staat subventioniert und gefördert. Man sollte sich hier eher Gedanken machen, eingefangene und abgegebene Tiere zu kastrieren, wenn es der Gesundheitszustand der Tiere zuläßt, sowie diese Tiere dann mit einer höheren Adoptionsgebühr wieder abzugegeben. Ziel ist es, den Menschen bewußt zu machen, das sie mit der Adoption eines Tieres auch Verantwortung übernehmen und es dieses nicht einfach wie eine Ware zu betrachten haben und nach Laune wieder auf die Straße setzen. Dadurch wird auch nach einer Weile das Züchten der Tiere untereinander, verhindert und es kommen weit weniger Tiere in die Tierheime. Rassehunde müßen angemeldet werden, die Welpenvermittlung schriftlich nachweisbar sein. Verkauft der Züchter seine Welpen ohne Papiere, sollte die vorherige Kastration Pflicht sein. Es kann nicht angehen, das in einem europäischen Staat noch solch schreckliche, antiquierte und vor allem  grundlose Einschläferungen , gesetzlich erlaubt sind. Das wirft das Land in dem "Animal welfare" Gedanken um Jahrhunderte zurück. Jedes Lebewesen hat ein Recht auf Leben und halten wir es mit dem M.Ghandi: "Die Größe einer Nation erkennt man daran, wie sie mit ihren Tieren umgeht". Deshalb unterschreibt die Petition und erreicht damit ein Umdenken in Spanien! Gemeinsam können wir es schaffen!  Für ein soziales und tiergerechteres Europa !!
