One week to go
Nov 4, 2019 —
Lest we forget. Next Monday, on Remembrance Day, we will gather in cities around Australia. We will be veterans, family members, friends, and supporters. We are all calling for an end to the crisis of veterans suicide, and we all believe that won't end without a Royal Commission.
I cannot stress enough that these peaceful gatherings on 11/11 are being done with nothing but respect for our veterans. More than most, we know how important Remembrance Day is to the veteran community, and to the Australian people. Every day of our lives is one in which we remember the fallen - especially those who fell because of trauma, stress, and depression as a result of their service.
We will remember them all, we will say their names and keep their memories in our hearts. But we will call on this government, the DVA, and others in power to do more. The stories of veterans and the families left behind must be told, in the appropriate forum of a Royal Commission. They did all they could for this country, now we must do all we can for them.
Please, if you can make it next Monday, attend one of our peaceful gatherings. Wear a yellow ribbon around your arm, bring your signs and banners. Stand with veterans. Stand with the families left behind by this tragedy. Stand with the #VetsWeForget
