Petition updateA Royal Commission into the Veteran suicide rate in Australia'Five reported suicides of war veterans since Anzac Day'

It's Mother's Day this Sunday, my first without David. My heart breaks for all of the mothers and families who do it tough on Mother's Day, especially the families of the hero sons and daughters who have taken their lives. There are way too many who will never recover from a tragic loss - a loss that should have been prevented.

Nothing is being done about this crisis. Which political leader will step up and commit to an urgent review into the systemic failures of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA)? We need a Royal Commission into Veterans Suicide. We're losing our brave men and women at a rate of more than one a week. We must stop talking about this and actually do something.

Our campaign is gathering momentum. Last week I was in Melbourne where I watched Karen, the amazing mother of Aussie Veteran Jesse Bird, give evidence at the enquiry into his death.  Now, off the strength of your signatures and support, I been invited to present a submission on David’s history with the military to the Productivity Commission, which is looking at improvements to compensation and rehabilitation for veterans. The commission closed submissions in February but have agreed to take my evidence.

That's people power at work, but I still need your help. Right now, can you share this petition on your social media?  Together, I know we can make our politicians see that we urgently need a Royal Commission into Veterans Suicide Rates.

Thank you.
