Update: Please Sign the Official Parliamentary Petition e-7636

Thank you to everyone who supported and shared our earlier Change.org petition regarding the prolonged permanent residence backlog affecting applicants under Canada’s special pathways for Hongkongers.
We now have an important opportunity to bring this issue directly before the Parliament of Canada.
MP Jenny Kwan is sponsoring House of Commons e-Petition e-7636, calling on the Government of Canada to address the PR backlog affecting applicants from the Hong Kong, Ukrainian and Sudanese humanitarian pathways.
The petition calls for the Government to increase permanent resident admissions and provide sufficient annual spaces for these pathways to clear the current backlog within three years.
Many affected applicants are already living, working, studying, paying taxes, raising families and building their futures in Canada. For Hongkongers in particular, the circumstances that led Canada to establish the pathway have not disappeared. The continuing restrictions on civil liberties and political freedoms mean that returning to Hong Kong is not a safe or realistic option for many.
If you supported our previous petition, we strongly encourage you to take the next step and sign the official House of Commons petition.
