Tartrazine is found in so many products from personal care items to cosmetics to vitamins, and crayons. It is an extremely popular dye used in packaged foods, many of which are targeted to children.

It has been linked to asthma, migraines, thyroid cancer, anxiety, clinical depression, allergies and blurred vision. A safe alternative, beta carotene, is used in some countries in Europe to achieve similar results. Yellow 5 is still used in North America because it’s cheap.
