I have no idea if this petition somehow made this happen, but one of the points of it was to get more people to know what Dolly Parton did in Tennessee, and it turns out that somehow Oprah learned of what Dolly did and together with the Rock they have organized the People's Fund of Maui to provide $1,200 a month for the next six months to everyone displaced from their homes by the wildfires in Maui.

Did we win already by just getting the right information in front of the right person? I don't know, but this is really something to celebrate!

We still need Congress to recognize that this is the proper way to respond to disasters, and that we can't just rely on charity all the time to respond like this. We need federal legislation!
