I'm not surprised but it's happened again.

Look at this photograph of the Sepang Circuit in Malaysia.This track is used for motorcycle GP's and meets FIM standards. It's also used for Formula 1 and other forms of car racing.The only way you can hit a barrier is to do it deliberately. What has to be done to have the track upgraded to FIM standards? Unfortunately people fall for the argument ... "but motorcycle racing is dangerous". It's not that dangerous if you're on a safe track. Having solid walls too close to the pavement on corner entries and exits does make it dangerous. Motorcycle sportspeople will be killed about every 5 years until the track is modified to the appropriate standard. 5 preventable deaths in 16 years. The usual response is to blame the rider or machine. A closed race circuit is supposed to have appropriate run off area and catch material designed to absorb the energy from a tumbling rider and machine whatever the cause ... rider error, mechanical failure or any other reason causing the rider to lose control.
