I started this petition to give Gareth Southgate a knighthood during the 2018 World Cup, and it sort of half worked as he was made an OBE - however I now feel in 2024 that's it's time to upgrade him to SIR GARETH SOUTHGATE, even if we don't win the tournament against Spain this Sunday.

I'll keep this short and sweet. My reasons are:

• He is our most successful manager of all time in terms of tournament results. 
• He has now taken England to two finals and a semi-final in his four major tournaments in charge.
• In 2024 in particular, he has done all of this while putting up with a level of abuse from fans and the media that has been utterly hysterical, or even borderline insane! Constructive criticism is fine, but let's face it - a lot of it has been unhinged. Beer cups? Just, no.
• He has given the people of England something to unite behind time and time again when our nation has been about nothing but division.
• He goes about his business with a level of calm, dignity and composure that has undoubtedly rubbed off on his players

A knighthood for Gareth. It's coming home.
