Everyone,
Please join us Tuesday, 06 February 2024 at 7:30 pm at 75 S. Van Brunt Street, Englewood, NJ to support the family of Bernard Placide, Jr. and demand justice.
The family of Bernard Placide, Jr., along with allied organizations, wish to formally articulate their demands in response to this horrible situation. Their demands, although not exhaustive, encapsulate the following key points:
Immediate dismissal of Officer Luana Sharpe from her position, followed by her arrest and indictment for her role in the unfortunate demise of Bernard Placide, Jr.
A cessation of any efforts to promote officers who were directly involved in the shooting event and the misinformation pertaining to these promotions.
Establish an independent civilian review board in Englewood, with the authority to conduct concurrent investigations, issue subpoenas, and impose disciplinary actions.
Transfer oversight authority of the Englewood Police Department from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, to the New Jersey State Attorney General’s Office.
Allocate resources and collaborate towards the creation, construction, and initiation of a youth center bearing the name of Bernard Placide, Jr.
In light of these distressing circumstances, it is the fervent hope of Bernard Placide, Jr.’s family and their affiliated supporters that these demands will be taken into earnest consideration, contributing to justice and positive change within the Englewood community.
