Hello!!
What an incredible wave of love and support for the animals of Yonkers Animal Shelter! We are beyond grateful for every single one of you who has signed, shared, and spoken up for our shelter animals. With 700 signatures and counting, including 399 Yonkers residents, 577 New Yorkers from nearby communities like Eastchester, Larchmont, Scarsdale, Pelham, New Rochelle, Tarrytown, Dobbs Ferry, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Manhattan, nearly all current YAS volunteers, 4 former volunteers, 8 YAS Rescue Partners, and 6 top YAS donors, we are building unstoppable momentum! This is just the beginning, and together, we are making a difference!
Our mission is clear: more volunteers, adequate staffing, on-site behavioral and veterinary support, and extended volunteer and operation hours to boost adoptions and give these animals the socialization and care they deserve. Every signature brings us closer to transforming Yonkers Animal Shelter into a place where every animal thrives.
We’re thrilled to share that just two days after launching this petition, the City of Yonkers announced an adoption event at the shelter for September 27th and 28th! This is a step forward, but we haven’t heard directly from the City yet, and our work is far from over. Let’s keep the pressure on for real, lasting change!
Here’s how you can help:
• Contact Mayor Spano and share your voice for the animals—let him know we demand better for Yonkers Animal Shelter!
• Interested in adopting or fostering a dog or cat? Visit the shelter to fill out an adoption application or ask about fostering through one of YAS’s Rescue Partners.
• Share the petition far and wide! Text it, post it on WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, or email it to friends, family, and animal lovers everywhere.
• Speak up for the animals who can’t speak for themselves.
• Keep the momentum going—every share, every signature, every voice matters!
Together, we can ensure Yonkers Animal Shelter becomes a beacon of hope and care for every animal in need. Let’s do this for them!
Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for standing with us!
