Petition updateA Growing Donabate Deserves Proper Planning and Essential ServicesQuick Update: Key Findings So Far
Donabate ResidentsDublin, Ireland

Dec 18, 2025
Hi everyone, a quick update now that several FOIs and official responses have started to come back.
Thanks to your support, I’ve been gathering facts from multiple public bodies. Here are the confirmed findings so far, kept short and clear:
Primary Care Centre (HSE)
- The Donabate PCC tender has collapsed.
- No new plan or timeline exists, and residents will be redirected to the new Swords PCC.
Policing
- FOI correspondence shows Donabate is not included in the Garda Capital Investment Programme.
- The CSO has also confirmed there is no Donabate- or Portrane-specific crime data, meaning policing needs cannot be properly assessed.
Education
- Two new primary schools for Donabate are tied to ADAPT 4 Phase 2, with delivery expected between 2026–2030.
- No new secondary school is planned, and the Gaelscoil still lacks a permanent building.
Transport & Emergency Access
- Donabate remains dependent on a single access route.
- The NTA refused the additional 33D bus service.
- Active travel links are still in early design (earliest 2027).
- DART+ includes no upgrades or electrification works for Donabate.
Water/Wastewater
- The treatment plant shows available capacity, but Uisce Éireann confirms this does not reflect the capacity of the Donabate wastewater network.
- Network modelling remains unclear.
Local Authority Planning
- Fingal’s own Infrastructure Capacity Assessment claims “no constraints,” which conflicts with the gaps now confirmed across healthcare, policing, education, transport and wastewater.
⭐ What’s new today?
- All the above evidence has now been formally compiled into a briefing and sent to Duncan Smith TD with a request for:
👉 A Cross-Departmental Review of essential services for Donabate.
This is the first time all these issues have been presented together at national level.
I’ll share the next update as soon as there’s movement.
In the meantime, please keep sharing the petition — growing support continues to make a real difference.
Thank you all again for your support. 💚
