Petition updateA Fair Go for VET in Schools Trainers

A fair go for VET in Schools teachers!

Dear VET in Schools supporter,

I just wanted to reach out to let you know we’ve just passed 200 signatures on our petition! Thank you so much for your support!

If you have not done so already, I would really appreciate it if you would forward the petition link on to someone else you know who cares about quality education. The more signatures the petition has, the harder it will be for the government to turn a blind eye to this issue.

In case you were not aware, the Victorian government has recently announced that it will soon be merging VET and applied learning with VCE, so if VET teaching qualifications are not made available soon, it is highly likely that Victoria will have an unprecedented number of unqualified secondary trainers teaching kids in VCE. You tell me, does this pass the pub test?

This is just one of the many reasons why VET trainers need a way to become qualified teachers, so again, I, and the Campaign for VET & Technologies Education (CVTE) salutes you and humbly appreciate your support and your commitment for high-quality education.

Also, in case you are interested, I have included a link to an article I wrote for Education Review that was published on the 31 August 2021. It goes into a bit more detail about this whole issue. A version of this article will also soon be published in AMTIL's Australian Manufacturing Technology (AMT) magazine.

Respectfully yours,

Karen O'Reilly-Briggs for the Campaign for VET & Technologies Education.
