It all started with Pakistan's mysterious support for India's International Yoga Day. Modi invented Yoga Day as a diplomatic method to convince the world India was the more peaceful power. The UNGA Assembly were seen on one leg doing a yoga pose chanting "Om Shanti". In the meantime, India was preparing its backing for the non-permanent UNSC seat.
Today, Pakistan decided to nominate a human rights abuser for a non permanent seat at the UNSC. It's a mystery as to why Pakistan has disrespected the dead in Kashmir and the losses sustained by the Pakistan Military due to sponsored terrorism inflicted on it by India.
It will always be a mystery as to why Pakistan betrayed us all but there it is. It's clear Imran Khan is quite happy to alienate his greatest supporters. I personally feel this decision is hugely damaging to our work at the UNHRC to hold India accountable. The nomination sanctions India's war criminal like behaviour. It is disrespectful to the huge losses sustained in Kashmir.
Either Pakistan's position should be that India inflicts sponsored terrorism on them and is a human rights abuser in Kashmir or that India is a competent peaceful nation. This nomination by Pakistan tells us all it believes India is a stable, competent peaceful neighbour. This runs opposite to what India actually is.
It is due to this catastrophic failure in Pakistan's diplomacy that I've deactivated my Twitter account and will not return to it in the future. None of us will accept Pakistan's damaging effects to our hard work at the UNHRC for Kashmir. Pakistan is often the architect of its own misfortune alienating its supporters and selling its own self respect to India. We might as well refer to Pakistan as " Indian Occupied Pakistan" since it's becoming a lapdog jumping at each of India's whims.
