Dear All,
It is four weeks since this petition was written. Together we have achieved 7388 signatures. The petition is still going strong despite problems from Indian nationalists and silence from the Kashmir local media.
Despite this, our Facebook Page here has more than 7K likes https://www.facebook.com/kashmirhumanrights/ with thousands of visits daily.

Soon we will be on Instagram and Twitter.
If you would like to assist, each of you can recruit one person to sign our petition. If that was to happen, the total signatories would double.
I have not press released this because it needs to be wholly dependent on the hard work of those who believe in the issue. I also wished to observe the behavior of the local Kashmir journalists and editors. They have all noted the petition and followed me on social networking but have sat around for four weeks in the hope the petition would disappear into the ground. Wishing failure on a petition is not good karma.
Yesterday, I was heavily critical of Greater Kashmir and its journalists who cited freedom of expression in their choice to write about Islamic State as opposed to civil liberties and a public United Nations plea via this petition. In any event, I am sure they will all enjoy sitting around like lazy crocodiles on my Facebook friends list while hoping our petition will fail. In the meantime, while we are busy publicizing this petition, they will no doubt be busy cut and pasting press releases from India concerning Islamic State. Of course, I believe the local media has failed civilian victims and I plan on testing this hypothesis over the next few weeks.
People have raised questions about who funds me. The answer is, no one funds me. Everything has been done by sheer hard work.
We hope that for the sake of the people of Kashmir, everyone makes an effort to share this petition so that it reaches a reasonable total of 10K. I am grateful to many in the US, the Middle-east, Pakistan and England for working tirelessly to obtain signatures.
Those who do not believe or are cynical about petitions, remember this, public support is required urgently for the civilians of Kashmir. Intellectual debates, newspaper articles, books etc have not worked to raise the profile of the human rights abuses. A petition is the only way forward to the United Nations to resolve this issue in the interests of peace. So far it remains the highest number of signatures achieved by any Kashmir related petition to date. Without mass public opinion supporting Kashmir civilians, the UN is unlikely to act. If we do not try our best, we would have failed the people of Kashmir and there is no room for failure when innocent lives are at stake.
Regards
