Dear All

Thank you all so much for having signed the petition for Laika Day. I have collected an array of images and artifacts (on Pinterest) that attest to the inconic status of Laika in the popular imagination. You can see them here, if you are interested:

We have finally reached 500+ supporters, however, the momentum for the petition has kind-of fallen away.

I must say that is partly (mainly?) down to me, as I have been trying to keep all the other bits of my life moving along and have not dedicated quality time to Laika. I am also at a little bit of a loss as to how to try and reach more people to see if they might feel the same way.

I had a vague idea that if the petition really took off, I could approach PETA or the RSPCA or identify a supportive policymaker or politician (although I am not a fan of politicians, in general) to make the case for Laika Day.

I also worry a little bit about change.org itself, the site hosting the petition (and, to be fair, many others) as it seems as much a ".com" as a ".org" hence my reluctance to have people pay to support the petition. (I am still not keen on the idea of people doing that - I believe support for the petition should be spontaneous.)

Anyway, if you have any good ideas about people who might help or things I could do to move the idea forward, please let me know in the comments. In the meantime, hope everything is looking good for the upcoming holiday season.

Very Best, Guy
