It is with great sadness that I share with you the news that Lance was murdered yesterday.  We knew we only had a small window of time to get him to safety and unfortunately we were not able to accomplish our mission in time.  It’s truly heartbreaking to see a trainable and adoptable dog lose their life due to human failures.  Lance’s case was under investigation by the Nassau County DA. It’s quite unusual to euthanize a dog involved in an investigation so we can safely assume it was an extreme effort to cover up their own incompetence.  We will seek justice for Lance but will close this petition now.  Please follow the reform for Hempstead Animal Shelter Facebook page for any further updates.  If this makes you as angry and sad as we feel then please email the town officials who allow this insanity to flourish at their municipal shelter.  They have the final say.
