Following a recent Active Travel Fund 2024/25 – Internal Stakeholder Update our campaign has been acknowledged as a 'Development' scheme which in essence means our project has some stages to progress such as, design, planning consent, funding etc. With a summary as follows:
This scheme will address a key missing link in the active travel network by developing a safe and accessible route between the communities of Penclawdd and Gowerton along the B4295. Funded through the Active Travel Fund’s core allocation for future scheme development, this project aims to provide walking and cycling infrastructure that connects Penclawdd with the broader active travel network via National Cycle Network Route 4.
Development work during 2025/26 will focus on route options appraisal, detailed design, and initial stakeholder consultation. Particular emphasis will be placed on identifying safe crossing points, minimising interaction with vehicular traffic, and overcoming existing infrastructure constraints. Subject to progress and feedback, the scheme will be submitted for delivery funding in a future financial year.
Your support is much appreciated, but we would like to gain more supporters to ensure our campaign is foremost in the thoughts of the responsible people and demonstrate how vital this project is needed in our communities. Please help to share.
