"Whilst previous design work had been undertaken on the missing link element of the Penclawdd to Gowerton Active Travel Link some years ago, for this project to receive future funding and be assessed against other competing Welsh projects; the Welsh Government’s WelTag process needs to be followed for which we have received funding this year to undertake a WelTag 1 study.  We have commissioned an external consultant to assist the Council due to workload in this instance.  The outputs at the end of this WelTag 1 will be:-

Decide whether there are any transport options, or other solutions that can address the issued identified
Select a short list of options to be taken forward to WelTag 2, based on their ability to solve the problem, their fit with local, regional and / or national objectives, their positive impacts across all aspects of well-being, their deliverability and robustness under uncertainty and potential to drive long lasting change
Agree the impacts, across all aspects of well-being, to be considered during WelTag 2 including the methods to be used to provide additional evidence where required
Identify any legislative requirements that are relevant to and need to be met during WelTag2
A further bid for 2024/25 will be submitted to further develop the next stages in the WelTag process."
