Legal Framework & Next Steps for Our Campaign

Thank you to every supporter who has taken the time to sign and share this petition. Every signature brings us one step closer to ensuring accountability, equity, and transparency in our local judicial system.
As we continue building momentum, it is important to understand the formal legal channels established under Texas state law for judicial oversight. Under Texas Government Code Chapter 665, state district judges are subject to specific legislative mechanisms for removal and accountability:
Impeachment (§ 665.002): District court judges are state officers subject to formal impeachment proceedings initiated by the Texas House of Representatives, followed by trial in the Texas Senate.
Removal by Address (§ 665.051(4) & § 665.052): A district judge may be removed by the Governor upon a joint address of two-thirds of both houses of the Texas Legislature for willful neglect of duty, incompetence, or official misconduct.
These provisions exist to ensure that judicial authority is exercised impartially and without favor. We are utilizing this statutory foundation to demand that state legislators examine these proceedings and uphold integrity in the 311th Family Court.
