It’s sad and depressing to realize that we are now two years into the second decade of inordinate delay in installing the OH Park Foot/Bike Bridge. It was originally conceived in 2010 as part of the City of Mississauga’s Cycling Master Plan to provide “Connected, Convenient, Comfortable and Safe” access to the Etobicoke Creek Trail, its parks, nature trails, sport fields, playgrounds, splash pools, amenities and public beaches on cool Lake Ontario. The OH Park foot/bike Bridge received final approval and funding by City of Mississauga Council in 2018 and was slated for installation in November, 2019.
The continued absence of this basic Active Transport & Living infrastructure link must be especially exasperating for Orchard Heights families with young children and youth who have been, and continue to be, deprived of expanding their horizons and experiencing the great outdoors right on their doorstep.
