The Blackwater River was just listed by American Rivers as one of America’s Most Endangered Rivers® of 2024.  American Rivers cited the threat of the currently state-preferred (but not yet adopted) southern route for Corridor H.  The route would cross all of the Blackwater’s headwater streams and potentially unearth acid mine drainage as a threat to the beloved river.
