

Navi Mumbaikars demand to Save Wetlands locally: email CIDCO MD & Ministryofficials to express anger and concern @adityathackeray Out of an area of 35.55 hectares allotted for golfcourse & residential towers nearly 33.45 hectares i.e 94% of the area falls under ‘wetland’and is part of the National Wetland Inventory.
As per the directions of Hon'ble Supreme Court of October 2017 in the matter ofBalakrishnan vs Union of India & ors, in accordance with Rule 4 of Wetland (Conservation andManagement), 2010. the wetlands need to be protected.
Shri Aaditya Thackeray , honorable Environment minister in a meeting held on 27th January2020 has asked Urban development department & CIDCO to abandon the plan for GolfCourse & Residential Towers in Sector 60 of Nerul & instead work on proposal forFlamingos sanctuary in its place. However due to the absence of any communication fromCIDCO MD after the meeting, citizens of Navi Mumbai have become suspicious of his intenttowards scrapping of the golf course project and have taken to email and social media,seeking answers from him.
