Only may be, if we kept our eyes wide open, we'd have been more aware of the utmost savagery with which our city's open spaces have been treated. Unfortunately, for me, it took working on this story to unravel the cruel, deliberate and irresponsible manner in which construction debris is being dumped into Mumbai's wetlands and open spaces in the name of development — all because we don't have a plan to get rid of it. In doing so, we haven't only destroyed our eco-sensitive habitat, but, by indulging in unscientific reclamation, are also laying the foundation for the city's doomsday.
