This is to thank Bombay High Court for formation of Konkan Wetlands Grievances Redressal Committee which has launched the website https://www.konkanwetland.com/ for filing online complaints . However the site can be further improved as under : 1. Hardly anyone is aware of this website. This website needs to be given publicity like helpline number 1926. The participating departments should publicise on their websites and by other means. 2. The spelling of grievance needs to be corrected immediately as wrong spelling makes this site look fake & suspicious . 3. After online complaint , a number is generated but site has no mechanism to track progress of the complaints . We should provide for tracking mechanism like Aaple Sarkar. 4. The minues of committee meetings should be uploaded on the site for transparency and follow up . 5. The list of wetlands in the area as per National Atlas of Wetlands Inventory should be uploaded on website . This will help in preserving them and also in pointing out the missing wetlands needing notification and protection. 6. As per a DNA report the state government has begun its first survey of wetlands in Maharashtra. Launched from Sindhudurg, and to be eventually extended across the state, it will collect data on the biodiversity of these crucial ecological features and aid their conservation. To 'ground-truth' the satellite mapping of these wetlands, officials will visit the sites and geo-tag their locations. They will also record ecological details like the floral and faunal species found there, aquatic vegetation, use of water, its depth, hydrology, Ph value and soil texture, to be made available on the 'Wetlands of Maharashtra' app. Please upload these reports on the website.
