Wetlands, which are vital parts of the hydrological cycle, provide a wide range of ecosystem service and support exceptional biological diversity. Many of our wetlands are, however, seriously threatened by anthropogenic activities. In order to conserve and protect the wetlands, the Government of Maharashtra has setup a grievance redressal committee vide GR dated 17.10.2016 following the directives of Honourable Bombay High Court in a PIL 87/2013. The committee will be headed by Konkan Divisional Commissioner and having the jurisdiction of all the districts of konkan Division. The committee is having the responsibility to address the grievances regarding destruction of wetland in breach of orders of the Honourable High Court and also to restore the wetlands after the instances of destruction are brought to the notice of the committee. https://www.konkanwetland.com/
