Went for a visit behind T S Chanakya institute an area that is rich in biodiversity, has mangroves , wetlands and is the habitat of many bird species. The 12 hectares area the status of which as per Cidco allotment letter is as follows : "The land use is changed from No Development Zone to Residential Zone and the proposal is submitted to the Government for sanction on 5th October 1999. Approval is awaited. This pocket partially falls under Defence Regulations Zone wherein construction activities are restricted . Also, part of this pocket falls in CRZ -II wherein development can be permitted as per sanctioned development plan and GDCRs . The developer may utilise this pocket for complimentary construction activities after obtaining clearance from Defense department and approval from UDD ." It is not clear whether above approvals recd but MCZMA approval has been given based on CIDCO statement that there are no wetlands in this area !!! #saveNaviMumbaiWetlands #CMOMaharashtra #save80hectares https://www.facebook.com/groups/savenavimumbaienvironment/permalink/1848154281884855/
