Hi All you wonderful people, Thanks for signing the 50:50 Parliament Petition! It has never been clearer how IMPORTANT gender equality of representation is. Today is “Equal Pay Day”. It marks that point in the year when women are effectively working for free for the rest of the year, compared to men. Women on average are paid 80p an hour for every pound earned by a man. And last week the World Economic Forum published that the UK had slipped from 18th to 26th in the rankings of its Global Gender Gap Report. Clearly, the UK is not the gender equal society that many assume it to be. Representation shapes policy and policy effects women. So please keep asking people to sign our petition for a debate and action to get better gender equality of representation in Parliament. The current 77:23 ratio just is not good enough! We are really excited to be featured as part of the ITV Tonight Programme “A Fair Deal For Women” being broadcast on 13 Nov at 7.30. So tune in and tell your friends.
