The Issue

We need your voice Stratford! In 2019, the City of Stratford spent around $38,000.00 of your tax dollars on harassing and inhumanely deterring the native waterfowl who call the Avon river home.
In 2020, the city will up it's spending to more than $50,000.00 on the same questionable wildlife control methods. During these unprecedented and worrisome times, wouldn't this money be better spent supporting our local health care system, providing our dedicated front line workers with the much needed PPE that they require, improving our low income housing, giving to our local food banks, fixing our roads, and financially supporting our struggling downtown businesses? There are countless projects in this city that could benefit greatly from $50,000.00, but instead it is going to be spent on harassing and scaring away our native waterfowl. What a waste!
As residents of Stratford you have a choice as to where your money gets spent. Do you want your hard earned tax dollars going towards harassing our local waterfowl, or would you like to see the money go towards helping the people of this city? *Paths in 2019 will be swept from Mid April- Oct 31st. 121 weekdays @ $100 a day labour and equipment (based on 2 hours) = $12,100 23 Saturdays X $150 = $3450.00 23 Sundays X $200 = $4600 Approx cost = $20150.00 Once we go back to 3 times a week we would save around $13450.00 a year.
