34 Townhouses WITH Access to Murrells Inlet Road

UPDATE... The Developer is back with a new plan. The proposed plan is 34 two or three story townhouses (41 allowable units) WITH access to Murrells Inlet Road. Most of the concerns are the same.

  • The plan allows up to 41 units. Will the plan change from the proposed 34 to the allowable 41?
  • There's only one entrance/exit to this plan and that's Murrells Inlet Road.
  • It still does not conform with the existing single-family homes in the area.
  • There will be a sewer pump station and dumpsters backing up to Crystal Lane.
  • Where will these drainage ponds go in a storm?

G3 Engineering has requested to build a 60 unit multi-family and 2 single family development on 5 acres located east of Bandage Court and west of Murrells Inlet Rd. This is across from the boat ramp parking lot. We do not believe this development fits in with the current single-family homes all around the site. The Zoning Ordinance states, "high density projects should be designed to insure preservation of the critical areas, to be compatible with the existing development...".

Our concerns/questions include but are not limited to:

Environmental Impacts / run off into the inlet

Decreased Property Values

There are no markings for drainage on the survey sent.

More vehicles / road maintenance

Where will dumpsters go? This is not shown on the site plan as stated in Article VI, section 607.704

Will the crime rate increase?

With three new ponds, will there be some type of irrigation or mosquito control?

Most importantly, this type of 3 story multi-family development does not match the types of single-family homes that are in the surrounding area. It is stated in Article VI, section 607 of the Zoning Ordinance, "high density projects should be designed to insure preservation of the critical areas, to be compatible with the existing development...".

We love our neighborhood and our community and of course, we want what is best for it as a whole. We feel building a 60 unit apartment complex is not the best option. We ask that you sign our petition and help stop this development.
