12/1/2023 - CALL TO ACTION – Justice for 318

In their latest post, HSSA made the following statement:

“HSSA has noted on several occasions, we cannot as an organization file criminal charges. Whether such filings occur is in the exclusive purview of law enforcement agencies such as a police department or a prosecutor's office. HSSA can only make a report to law enforcement and ask them to investigate.”

Tucson Police Department has stated to several people that they are not investigating which then means that the TPD is failing to do its job. Mayor Romero oversees the police department, so it is her responsibility to ensure TPD does it jobs or explains why they are not investigating when a crime has occurred that thousands of members of the public are very concerned about.

Charges to consider seeking:

Christian Gonzales – Theft, fraud and animal cruelty.

Colten Jones – Receiver of stolen goods, animal cruelty, adopting under false pretenses of a rescue.

Steve Farley – Aiding and abetting theft, fraud and animal cruelty.

323 Animals were stolen from HSSA under false pretenses by Christian Gonzalez and received by Colten Jones then subjected them to cruel suffering and death according to his text message to another snake owner.

According to the adoption fees listed on the HSSA website, the shelter endured losses of $9,375.00 for 323 from the stolen animals.

ARS § 13-1802 is the Arizona statute that defines the crime of theft. People commit this offense when they knowingly use or take someone else's property or services without lawful authority to do so. A violation of this law could lead to Class 2 felony charges punishable by over 12 years in state prison.

Arizona Animal Cruelty Laws 13-2910

A. A person commits cruelty to animals if the person does any of the following:

4. Recklessly subjects any animal to cruel mistreatment

9. Intentionally or knowingly subjects any animal to cruel mistreatment.

14. Intentionally or knowingly subjects a domestic animal to cruel mistreatment.

If you feel compelled to email Mayor Regina Romero and copy Robert Garcia to ask why there is not an active investigation or urge them to actively pursue this you can email them at:
