Petition update318 Small Animals Sent to Humane Society of Southern Arizona Still Unaccounted ForLies, Breach of Protocol/Public Trust and 323 Missing Animals Since August 7, 2023.

CPO Christian Gozalez distributed the photos above and stated the animals were in adoptive homes.  Truth is - the photos of one rabbit and one guinea pig were taken at the Jones family home with their children holding the animals.  The guinea pig has since been returned and sent to a real rescue.

Not only has one lie been posted after another, the San Diego Humane Society has not kept their promises.  SDHS has not followed through with legal counsel against CEO Steve Farley/ CPO Christian Gonzales nor have they hired a private investigator to find the animals.

According to witnesses during the time of 9/28/23, the staff of SDHS stated they knew awhile back about Trevor Jones but could not find information about him.  They did not vet Trevor Jones prior sending the animals; nor did they Demand the missing animals returned from the Humane Society of Southern Arizona at any time; even after they knew about Colten Jones the python breeder having them (a man who sells live and dead small animals as snake food).

Animal advocates found out where the animals were with no help from either shelter.  According to records from both shelters a total of 323 animals were sent to Arizona.  During the past two months and the lack of action by either shelter, each day that went by there was less chance of survival for the missing animals.

It is unacceptable and despicable that SDHS put 300+ animals in harm’s way without knowing where the animals were going.  It is unacceptable and damnable that HSSA sent the animals to a known snake breeder by their own staff who is also a snake breeder.  These careless acts were planned out since July resulting in the animals being intentionally sent to what appears to be – their death - being live fed to reptiles, killed and frozen or used for breeding purposes for both. All the while HSSA blatantly lied to the public.

Sadly the missing animals have not been first priority to ether shelter.  While HSSA has also never demanded the animals back to their shelter even after they full well knew they were in immediate danger of being snake food; this email below was written by SDHS Brian Daugherty where you can see the SDHS was appallingly more interested in their fundraiser than finding the missing animals.

We have a lot happening here, including planning for a 700 person event tomorrow night.

While I can't remember our discussion verbatim from last week, reaching out to the Attorney General is on our list of legal options to pursue. It has not been done at this point so there is no case number or anything else to reference. Things are changing quickly but we are still looking at what legal options exist to determine the ultimate outcome of the animals as well as what legal implications there are for Steve and Christian.

We need to discuss next steps with our legal counsel, which would include connecting with the Attorney General, etc..., and we will certainly discuss with them whether the FBI would be appropriate to engage.  I recognize everyone wants everything immediately, but we're not going to have any additional information until next week.

Both shelters breached public trust and shelter protocol while putting animals in their care in harm’s way; 265+ ? animals remain missing.
We the petitioners demand justice, we demand animal cruelty charges and we demand all involved at both shelters be replaced with honorable staff.
