この度、シンガポールの新聞The Straits Times（ザ・ストレーツ・タイムズ）に、「2027横浜国際園芸博覧会(花博)のために桜並木を切らないで！市民の意見を尊重し上瀬谷の開発見直しを」について取材を受け、2022年7月23日付で記事が掲載されました事をご報告致します。
以下、当会を取り上げて頂きました一部分を抜粋して意訳いたしました。
戦後、平和の祈りを込めて植えられたとも伝わる、海軍道路の桜並木喪失
横浜市の上瀬谷地区では、1,000万人が集まると横浜市が期待する2027年の国際園芸博覧会に向けて、道路を拡幅するために280本の桜の木が伐採されます。また、東京ドーム52個分のこの地域に、テーマパークなどの施設を建設する計画もあります。Change.org の「桜並木を切らないで」請願書には、36,000を超える賛同が集まりました。地元の人々は、春と秋に海軍道路桜並木に沿うはらっぱに集まりピクニックをします。 「桜の木を伐採することは、国際園芸博覧会の目的（SDGs）に反する行為です」と情報システムエンジニアのJun Takahashiさん（46）は言います。開発のためにすべてを取り壊さなければならないという考えは、この時代には不適切です。すでに存在するものを最大限に活用した開発を期待しています。

Over in the Kamiseya district in Yokohama, the 280 sakura trees are due to be chopped for the road to be widened ahead of the 2027 flower expo that the city hopes can attract 10 million people.
There are also plans to build a theme park and other facilities in an area the size of 52 Tokyo Dome stadium arenas.
A petition on Change.org has drawn more than 36,000 signatures.
Locals gather at the fields along the iconic stretch of trees to picnic in spring and autumn. “Cutting down the row of sakura trees is an act that runs contrary to the very purpose of the flower expo,” says information systems engineer Jun Takahashi, 46.
“The idea that everything must be torn down for the sake of development is unsuitable in this day and age. I hope to see development that makes the best use of what is already there.”
