MY CONTRIBUTION TO THE STRUGGLE

AGE OF CONSENT

She cannot vote

She cannot drive

For an abortion

She cannot sign

BUT she CAN GIVE consent.

 

Consent to what? To SEX?

 

She is just sixteen

She is immature

This old-time law

Outdated for sure.

 

SHE’S STILL A CHILD

PLEASE GIVE HER TIME

Her body may seem ready

But certainly not her mind.

Why not wait for eighteen

She will be an adult then

Responsible for her actions 

Why the rush MEN ?

 

We have signed our petitions

Over three thousand and some 

We women folk are serious

We will not back down.

 

As women, as mothers

We say this is wrong

Our daughters are not sex toys

United, let us RIGHT THIS WRONG.

Our daughters are precious

This law must go

Women politicians 

RISE UP and SAY SO.

 

Girls be proactive

Do not be sidetracked

There is more to life than giving in 

 To these sexual attacks.

 

Young girls you are not objects

You were created by the King

To bring Him glory and honour 

You are NOT ‘de thing.’

 Stay focused

Stay strong

Set your goals

Move on!

 

Is there a hidden agenda?

Is there something we should know?

This wait is TOO long

This law HAS TO GO!
