Thank you for signing my petition calling on the NHS to stop purchasing antibiotics from polluting factories. I’ve been really overwhelmed by the support I’ve been getting - so far over 70,000 people have signed up! Once we reach 100,000, I’m planning to hand it over to Jeremy Hunt. So please share the petition with your friends and let's prove that this is an issue that can’t be ignored any longer. The situation on the ground in Hyderabad, India, is still very bad. In the past few weeks, a new report by the Changing Markets Foundation, a UK-based NGO, and a Swedish bank called Nordea has revealed high levels of toxic and carcinogenic chemicals in water surrounding pharmaceutical factories there. These factories are supplying companies and healthcare providers around the world, including the NHS, and the report shows the terrible impact that industrial pollution from the manufacturing of our medicines is having on local people and the environment in India, in addition to contributing to the rise of drug-resistant bacteria, which is a global problem. This is why I’m calling on Jeremy Hunt to review where the NHS is purchasing pharmaceuticals from – because we shouldn’t be supporting factories where pollution is having such a negative impact on people’s health and the environment, both in India and globally. Thanks again for all your support, Will You can find the report, Hyderabad's Pharmaceutical Pollution Crisis, here: https://changingmarkets.org/portfolio/bad-medicine/
