The use of 1080 as a rodenticide was disallowed in USA, for three reasons; (1) lack of emergency treatment, namely a viable medical antidote; (2) high acute toxicity to non-target mammals and birds; and (3) a significant reduction in populations of non target organisms and fatalities to endangered species
