Petition updateCanal Road Trees - SAVE THEMHIKOI TO SAVE THE TREES
Phil OAuckland, New Zealand
12 Oct 2020

This Thursday will be the 100th day of our peaceful tree-sitting at Burgess-Raymond-Lee Community Ngahere in Whau/Avondale.

The request to preserve this exceptional copse of intensive biodiversity as an endangered tree sanctuary was raised 2-years ago with Auckland Council, we need action.

To mark the occasion, Save Canal Road Native Trees will hīkoi from Canal Rd to the Auckland Town Hall and again call on Mayor Goff and the Auckland Council to acquire the land for a public reserve and native tree arboretum for generations to come.

We will gather at 6am from 56 Canal Road, Avondale for a karakia and a briefing before starting the walk and arriving for 10am at the Town Hall.

We would love to have you come along and join us and support this important kaupapa that directly affects us all as residents of Tāmaki Makaurau and Aotearoa.

We want tree protection, regulation of the arborist industry and for the council to step in and protect these tūpuna rākau. ♥️
