‼️Data Centers have been popping up around the US‼️

It was a big concern for most that have lived around data centers for years, but for others who are away from those areas, they had no idea of the significance of data centers. 

Right now, Charles County, Maryland is in an active fight against the build of Hyperscale Data Centers in Charles County. Some County Commissioners have suggested using our industrial zones for land usage, but those zones are extremely close to residential areas. America has the most data centers in the world.... THE WORLD. Next to germany. Why does our small (growing) town need a data center, exactly? There has been a lot of recent news on the CEO of OpenAI, Open-ly (lol.) admitting to the unethical use of AI in our military, our local officials are acting oblivious to the media surrounding AI media. I do not believe them when they say they don't hear about the unethicalness of a data center on the community, are you not on the internet? We do not need to put in a new Zoning Text Amendment because we DO NOT NEED DATA CENTERS‼️

Our County Commissioners got pressured by a local coalition in Southern Maryland that was made up of many local organizations and supporters. We need your help with bringing awareness to this unethical placement of data centers in our community. We do not have the infrastructure in anyway shape or form- in water or in our power grid. The Planning Commissioners are now re-writing the Zoning Text Amendment. 

Calvert has enacted a 2-year Data Center Moratorium- which is basically a pause on the development of Data Centers until futher research is conducted. PG County have a tech business actively trying to purchase land for the development of a data center on the old Landover Mall sight. That fight has caused such a movement in PG that there is talks of a pause in that county as well.
