#ChooseDialogueNotWar!

Today marks one year since Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, and it is clear from the situation in Ukraine that it is difficult to end a war once it has begun.
Now is the time for diplomatic efforts through dialogue to avoid war. However, the Kishida administration has been emphasizing only integration with the U.S. military, and some media outlets seem to be encouraging military expansion.
The Japanese economy is now even more dependent on China than on the U.S., yet this kind of atmosphere pervades Japanese society as a whole.
We are deeply concerned about this situation.
It is important for each and every one of us to speak out to change the attitude of the government that is pushing forward with military expansion.
We are afraid of China, and we must expand our military so that we will not end up like Ukraine! Let us calmly ask and talk to those around us who are saying loudly, "We are afraid of China and we need to expand our military so that we don't end up like Ukraine!
The invasion of Ukraine is just unfortunate as it has only resulted in the casualties of many civilians and Ukrainian and Russian soldiers. The only people who are benefiting from the wars going on around the world today are the military companies that make weapons and the politicians connected to them.
We oppose all wars, not only in Japan and its neighboring countries, but in the world.
Peace will not come from instilling anxiety and threats. The danger of war will only increase. Your words and actions, which desire peace and dialogue, will lead to a brighter future for our children.
It is our responsibility to be alert to the government's policies and decisions, and to make unceasing efforts to demand reconsideration and change as a contributing member of world peace.
We strongly hope that the Kishida administration will seek peace through a series of diplomatic efforts based on dialogue, not military expansion.
