3月26日に日本外国特派員協会（The Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan）で、入管法改正や日本で暮らす難民や入管施設に収容されている外国人の実態について記者会見を行いました。当日は多くの国内・海外メディアが参加しました。
この記者会見には、日本における外国人労働者や難民の人権問題に取り組んでいる指宿昭一弁護士、名古屋入管被収容者の支援団体STARTの松井保憲さん、そしてPOSSE外国人労働サポートセンターの岩橋の3名が参加しました。
STARTの松井さんは、名古屋入管に収容されていたスリランカ人女性が今月死亡した事件について報告しました。面談をすすめる中で明らかに衰弱していたにも関わらず入管の対応が不十分であったことによって起こった、防くことができた死だと訴えました。
指宿弁護士は、入管施設における長期収容問題は、今回の入管法改定で解決できることでは無く、現状を改善するには改悪ではなく、非正規滞在者に適正に在留特別許可を出すことやどうしても送還に応じられない場合は仮放免をすることが必要と訴えました。
POSSEの岩橋は、入管法が改正されることによって影響を受ける難民の生活実態や、改正法に対するクルド人難民の声、日本のZ世代の声を紹介をしました。必要なのは入管法の改正ではなく、仮放免中の外国人をふくめて、すべての人に生存権を認めることが必要だと訴えました。

On March 26, we held a press conference at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan on the proposed revision bill for the Immigration Act of Japan. There were Japanese media outlets reporting in English as well as foreign media in attendance.
Joining the press conference was Shoichi Ibusuki, lawyer advocating for migrant workers/refugee’s rights in Japan, Makoto Iwahashi from POSSE’s Foreign Worker Support Centre, as well as Mr. Matsui from an organization supporting detainees in Nagoya immigration detention, called START.
Each of them spoke on the following.
Mr. Matsui: From the perspective of the support group, he explained the details of what happened to the Sri Lankan female who died in Nagoya immigration detention.
Lawyer Ibusuki: Long-term detention has become a chronic problem in Japan’s immigration detention centers. This issue can not be addressed with the proposed revision. Instead, what’s needed is 1) properly giving valid status to those who need it, and 2) allowing provisional release if unable to comply with a deportation order. These two can be done without making changes to the current Act.
Mr. Iwahashi: Shared the dire reality of the Kurdish asylum seeker living in Japan on provisional release (仮放免, Karihoumen), and what actions are being taken to stop the proposed bill from passing by the youth volunteers from POSSE, including this petition.
