台湾原住民は中国の民族ではない！国立民族学博物館は展示の誤りを正して！

日本大阪府吹田市にある国立民族学博物館は、「中国地域の文化」と題する展示場において、台湾を中国（中華人民共和国）の一部と位置付ける展示を行っている。私たちはこれに対して厳粛に抗議する。

具体的には、先ずイントロダクションで掲示する中国の地形図、中国の行政区分図、そして中国民族分布図といった中国地図に台湾を含めている。そしてまた台湾原住民を台湾では差別的とされる「高山族」の名で呼び、「中国５５の少数民族」の一つだと説明している。またその展示場内には、「台湾原住民族」と題するセクションを設け、台湾原住民に関する展示を行い、やはり台湾原住民を中国の少数民族として扱っている。

だが台湾を中国領土の一部とするのは事実に反する。それは台湾併呑を正当化するための中国の政治宣伝に過ぎない。台湾原住民を「中国５５の少数民族」の一つとするのも同様である。

国際法上において、台湾は中国の領土ではない。日本政府の見解もまた同様である。博物館側は「中国地域」とは中華人民共和国を意味せず、「中国文化のエリア」「昔の王朝時代の領域」等の意味だと説明するが、今日において「中国」とは中華人民共和国以外になく、台湾が中国領土ではない以上、「台湾を含む中国地域」は存在しない。

要するに、中国政府の「台湾は中国領土の一部」とする政治宣伝に従っている訳であり、こうした展示は学術的な根拠が弱く、学術研究の領域への「政治」の持ち込みというしかない。そして来館者に誤った情報を与え、台湾人の尊厳と感情を傷つけることになり、更には博物館の学術的地位を損なうことになる。

台湾は台湾であり、中華人民共和国とは関係ないのである。

私達は国立民族学博物館に対し、中国関連の展示場から台湾関連の展示を外して、台湾原住民族のことを正しく展覧することを求める。

日本大阪府吹田市國立民族學博物館（民博）在「中國地域之文化」展示中，將台灣列為中國（中華人民共和國）的一部分，對此我們提出嚴正抗議。具體而言，博物館在展場簡介，將台灣納入中國地形圖及行政區分圖，更在中國民族分布圖中包含台灣原住民族。甚至在展場內的「台灣原住民族」專區，也以中國少數民族的觀點展示台灣原住民族。不僅使用「高山族」此一在台灣帶有貶義的名詞指稱台灣原住民族，更錯誤地將其列為中國55個少數民族之一。

將台灣視為中國領土的一部份有違事實，充其量只是中國企圖正當化併吞台灣的政治宣傳。把台灣原住民族視為中國55個少數民族之一，更是出自相同邏輯的謬論。就國際法而言，台灣並非中國領土，日本政府所抱持的觀點與此相符。民博解釋，「中國地域」並非專指中華人民共和國，而是用以指稱「中國文化區」或「歷代王朝統治的領域」。然而，「中國」一詞現在已經和中華人民共和國畫上等號，台灣不屬中國管轄，「台灣屬於中國領土」的說法自是無稽之談。

簡言之，民博的展示配合中國政府「台灣是中國領土一部份」的政治宣傳，學術論證基礎薄弱，只能形容為將政治帶入學術研究領域之舉。這不僅對參訪者提供錯誤訊息，傷害台灣人的尊嚴與情感，更有損博物館的學術地位。

我們必須嚴正聲明，台灣是台灣，台灣人不屬於中華人民共和國。基於此，我們鄭重要求國立民族學博物館，將台灣展示從中國主題展場移除，並以適切的方式展示台灣原住民族。

Taiwanese Indigenous people are not Chinese ethnic groups! Osaka National Museum of Ethnology should correct the mistakes in their exhibits!

The National Museum of Ethnology in Suita, Osaka Prefecture, Japan, is displaying an exhibit titled "Cultures of the Chinese Region" that positions Taiwan as part of China (the People's Republic of China). We lodge a solemn protest against this.

Specifically, the museum includes Taiwan in maps of China, such as the topographical map of China, the administrative division map of China, and the distribution map of Chinese ethnic groups, which are displayed in the introduction from the perspective of China’s ethnic minorities. Not only does the museum call Taiwanese Indigenous peoples "high mountains peoples" (a pejorative denomination in Taiwan), but it also falsely explains that they belong to the "55 ethnic minorities of China." 

The museum also has a section titled "Taiwanese aborigines" that displays exhibits about Taiwanese Indigenous peoples, and also treats them as Chinese ethnic minorities.

However, regarding Taiwan as part of Chinese territory is contrary to the facts. It is nothing more than reproducing Chinese political propaganda to justify the annexation of Taiwan. Including Taiwanese Indigenous peoples among the "55 minority ethnic groups of China" proceeds from the same logic.

Under international law, Taiwan is not Chinese territory. The view of the Japanese government is the same. The museum explains that "China area" does not mean the People’s Republic of China, but rather means "area of ​​Chinese culture" or "territory of the old dynasty," but today, "China" usually refers to the People's Republic of China (PRC), and since Taiwan is not PRC’s territory, there is no such thing as a "China area including Taiwan".

In short, this statement which has next to no foundation in academic discourse, is in accordance with the Chinese government's political propaganda that "Taiwan is part of Chinese territory," and such an exhibit can only be described as bringing "politics" into the field of academic research. It gives visitors false information, hurts the dignity and feelings of Taiwanese people and damages the academic status of the museum.

Taiwan is Taiwan, and it is the country of the Taiwanese people, unrelated to the People’s Republic of China.

We call on the National Museum of Ethnology to exhibit properly Taiwan Indigenous peoples and remove Taiwan-related exhibits from the China section.
