An Appeal to Pearson: Fair Access to Examinations
Dear Pearson,
We respectfully urge Pearson to reconsider its decision to prevent Iranian citizens from accessing examinations because of sanctions and related regulatory restrictions.
We acknowledge Pearson’s responsibility to comply with all applicable laws and regulations. However, broader regulatory restrictions should not unnecessarily prevent individuals from accessing education, professional assessment, and internationally recognised qualifications—particularly where candidates are not themselves subject to any individual restriction.
For many Iranian doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals, researchers, and students, these examinations are essential steps towards professional registration, further education, employment, and contributing to healthcare systems internationally.
Individual candidates should not bear disproportionate consequences for circumstances beyond their personal control.
We are not asking for preferential treatment or exemption from applicable laws. We are asking Pearson to explore every lawful and practical mechanism that could preserve examination access for eligible candidates while maintaining full regulatory compliance.
We therefore call on Pearson to review this policy, provide greater transparency regarding the applicable restrictions, and actively seek a fair and workable solution for affected candidates.
Access to professional assessment should be based on individual eligibility wherever legally possible—not determined solely by nationality or circumstances beyond an individual’s control.
We respectfully ask Pearson to listen to affected candidates and reconsider its current approach.
Examinations should open doors to professional opportunity—not close them because of circumstances an individual cannot control.
Sincerely,
Concerned candidates and professionals
