About the movement
In the new year, record low temperatures hit the nation resulting in the reported deaths of numerous outside dogs. It is legal in most states to leave a pet outside in extreme weather if minimal conditions, like “housing” and fresh water, are met.
Just nine states have animal anti-cruelty provisions that address pets housed outside in extreme weather. It is time states amend animal care and cruelty laws to include provisions for outside dogs in extreme temperatures.
Join the movement by starting or supporting a petition in your state or municipality to amend anti-cruelty laws to include pets housed in extreme weather.
