There is a major shortfall in NHS dentists across the UK, with thousands of patients having to go private for basic treatments.
In some cases people have been forced to perform DIY dental surgery, and in Bristol hundreds of people queued outside a new dental practice as it registered new patients.
The British Dental Association commented: "Ministers need to take some responsibility. A wealthy 21st Century nation is slipping back to the Victorian era on their watch."
