Unlocking the bootloader is really important, it's a restriction that shouldn't be there in the first place. Users should be able to change recovery, make backups of their rom or change roms, since they paid for their phone and it's up to them how to use it. With an unlocked bootloader, you can also fix a broken system very easily, if it's locked you may need to take it to the technical service.

Huawei made a list of models which can unlock their bootloader, but there are many models missing. If you were thinking of buying a Huawei smartphone, think twice before doing it.
