STOP making SEXIST kinder eggs!

For some utterly bizarre reason, the marketing people behind the beloved children's treat "Kinder Egg" have decided to take us back to 1955 with their new gender stereotyped campaign.

Apparently, children must choose between the pink fashion dolls choice or the blue sprinty ranges.

As a child, I adored the Kinder "Surprise" range, the whole joy being the surprise of the toy inside. Now that element seems to have been denied to our young generation, and they will only get a suitably gender stereotyped toy.

In terms of reinforcing outdated and indeed dangerous stereotypes in young children, this is an appalling step backwards! We really need to get this range off our shelves as soon as possible, and allow children the joy of a being able to play with one of the few truly gender neutral toys out there.

There is no doubt this is shocking sexism, and both dangerous and stifling to children’s development.

We need to promote equality in the next generation, not put young people into boxes which define their future opportunities and potential.

Please Kinder, stop this outrageous campaign at once and give children back their surprise.

To:
STOP making SEXIST kinder eggs!

Sincerely,

Well i am a mother to a seven year old boy who is My little pony mad but also loves the lego Bioncle fighters and Ben10.. He agrees that this pink for girls and blue for boys is silly. He simply enjoys toys for the fun of what they are ...toys.. His favourite colour is the rainbow because it has all the colours in it. Since the surprise element has gone from the kinder surprise my son chooses to buy other sweets now he reasoned that he may as well just buy another of the toy eggs available and go without the chocolate. I myself used to collect the kinder toys ever since i was a child and the quality of toys has gone massively down. And no longer indulge in the purchase of kinder eggs. From fun toys that you mostly had to build to the pre-made and badly at that toys that seldom work, and rarely worth collecting and keeping.

Gender imbalance in work force created by perception of the spilt between what girls and boys should do through such gender stereotyping. There is a uk shortage in engineering skills that isn't helped by fact few girls and women taking technical subjects at school. Need to create a world where either sex knows there are no boundaries.

As a young girl, I always opted for the cars over the dolls but children should not have to make this decision.
